Grazer Solar-Pionier SOLID feierte „25 JAHRE UNTER DER SONNE“!
What began as a private pilot project of a young biologist for the protection of the environment in Graz 25 years ago became an international pioneer company within the solar thermal industry. Over the past 25 years, the Graz-based solar company SOLID has planned, developed and built more than 300 large-scale solar thermal plants worldwide, operating the largest solar thermal system in a country for more than 30 times. Within 17 years, these plants have replaced some 17.5 million liters of oil with solar energy. With the slogan "25 years sunny", SOLID celebrated its 25th anniversary in the presence of politicians and the Who's Who of the Styrian energy sector. The Mayor of Graz Siegfried Nagl, Landtag deputy Lara Köck as well as companions and supporters, Ernst Gödl, Vice-President of the Federal Council, the representatives of LH Schützenhöfer, WKO Steiermark and Director Karl-Heinz Dernoscheg congratulated the SOLID founders Christian Holter and Franz Radovic for the success of past 25 years. Additionally, SOLID shows an export rate of 80 percent and was awarded by the Austrian foreign trade.
Solar large-scale projects are the nucleus of heat exchanges
For 25 years, SOLID has been a pioneer in the field of large solar thermal systems and has been able to shape and promote the development of renewable energy systems in Austria and internationally for many years. Today, in Portugal, Belgium, Sweden, Bosnia, Czech Republic, Italy, Bulgaria and Kosovo the company provides solar heat and cold. In 2009, the world's most powerful solar cooling system in Singapore set new standards. In America and the Caribbean, twelve plants with 16,000 m2 of collector areas are in operation, among others on the roofs of Harvard University and on the production floors of Pepsi Cola. In 2015 another lighthouse project with 5,000 m² solar collectors in Phoenix / Arizona was completed: solar heat and cold for the Desert Mountain Highschool. Another big project is the project "Solar hot water and cooling for Nicaragua's largest and most modern hospital" - the »Hospital Militar Dr. Alejandro Dávila Bolaños". Solar energy produced from 4500 m² of collector area substitutes 410,000 liters of oil and 1,100 tonnes of CO2 per year. All of the large-scale solar systems installed by SOLID save in total about 0.5 liters of oil each second, thereby driving the heat transfer forward. Half of all major solar cooling systems installed worldwide were built by SOLID, among them the three most powerful systems.
