According to the motto “Together for a sustainable future” UNIDO is organizing several events and an EXPO for its 50th anniversary from November 21st to 25th 2016. The focus lays on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and strategies for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
IEA SHC TASK 55 Kick-Off: More than 18 Institutions joined the Project Start on Solar District Heating and Cooling in Graz
Between the 19th and the 21st of October 2016, around 25 international experts participated in the SHC Task 55 Kick-Off meeting. The experts discussed the major contributions of the Task on the world market´s integration of large scale solar thermal systems into district heating and cooling networks.
SOLID at the EU-Caribbean Sustainability Conference: Solar Thermal Air-conditioning
The EU-Caribbean Sustainability Conference from the 10th – 11th of October 2016 aimed to leverage investment towards achieving the region’s ambitious renewable energy goals. SOLID installed several solar thermal systems across the Caribbean region and was one of the international guests sharing its knowhow for the innovative uses of renewable energy in the field of Solar Thermal air-conditioning.
1 Million m² of Solar Thermal Collector Area in Denmark for Solar District Heating
In September 2016, the Danish district heating organization published new data on solar thermal installations in Denmark. The performance is outstanding: About 1,003,024 m² were registered on the 21st of September 2016 operating at 85 district heating networks. The database also shows that solar thermal energy is profitable in light of fossil based heating supply. What is different in Denmark compared to Austria?
IEA SHC Task 55 Kick-Off Meeting October 19th – 21st 2016 in Graz – “Towards the integration of large SHC systems into DHC networks”
The IEA SHC Task 55 Kick-Off Meeting will take place in Graz, Austria from the 19th of October - 21st of October 2016. The Task will focus on technical and economic requirements for the commercial international market introduction of solar district heating and cooling (SHC) systems. Experts will elaborate on their technological and market know-how, their experiences with network conditions as well as project initiation/implementation phases. The international collaboration of SDH experts with different associations and companies of the district heating sector is a key to bridging the gap between sectors attracted to leverage transformative solar thermal district heating and cooling networks.
Project MeQuSo - Methods for quality assessment of large scale solar thermal plants under real operating conditions
Operational conditions of collectors in the field differ from laboratory tests. Operators of solar thermal plants demand guaranteed minimum yield performances, as heat prices are agreed upon prior to plant constructions. To reduce the uncertainty of solar thermal collectors´ performances and to increase the planning reliability for constructors, current test methods and the actual operating conditions of collectors have to be reevaluated in the project MeQuSo.
